Paint / Coating on axle
Have my axle back from the shop, and they primered it for me. What type of paint or coating should I put on it? If I don't go the powder coating method, what is everyone using? POR? 500 degree paint, cause of exhaust? What paint has the durability? Car is to be a summer driver. Did lizard skin as the bottom paint.

01-21-2009 #2Por-15 likes to be on bare metal. I did end up painting my axle with Por-15 with an over coat of their Chassis Black, but it was on bare metal. It came out pretty good:

Liked it so much painted my trans the same way:

If you didn't want to strip the primer, you might check out Eastwood's line of Chassis Black paints I have painted a few things with their spray paints and they seem pretty durable for rattle cans.

Couldn't find any Chassis paint at the store I went to, picked up some Caliper/wheel paint instead. We'll see how it lasts.
