Merge collectors or not ?

I have plans of building my own headers sofar. I am trying to build 1 7/8" longtubes for LSx/first gen chassis. Yes i know there tons of choises and i really like Lemons headers but they are plain steel. I want mine stainless. And yes Dan made me offer to build them in stainless but it was way out of my budget.

My question is : Do i get any gains with merge or tri-y merge collectors seen here : http://www.spdexhaust.com/pdfs/Temp_Pages/Tri-Y.pdf

I am looking same primary lenght as kooks Z06 headers have .

Engine will be stock crate LS7. Rest of the exhaust will be 3" with X-pipe and good mufflers.
