      Snowbird

Yeah I know, pretty lame snowfall, but this is South Carolina, enough to close all the schools in my county, LOL.

bah it skipped over us and got you instead, boooooo. I like snow even if it's only a small amount. Ice sucks thought because my car nor motorcycle can handle ice. Wonder if my bicycle can, hmmm?

Bah, it's allready gone. I wouldn't mind getting about a foot of snow so I could stay home and be lazy with my dogs and my Captian Morgan.

If that's bad enough to close all the schools in the county, I'd hate to see how people would get around if you got any decent snowfall.

It gets bad. You won't be able to find milk or bread in any fo the grocery stores. It's mainly because we don't have the equipment to clear the roads like you have up north. No point keeping a fleet of plows and salt trucks around for the occaisional freak snow storm.

Yeah, there was some pretty near to us, but we didn't get any to see. Bummer.

Kevin you're kidding me....they closed all the schools FOR THAT??!!!!

We picnic outside in weather like that. Some even go swimming.

I'll post a pic tomorrow of the current situation in MY front yard.

I'm in the process of moving from CT to FL right now. Took this pic while trying to get the Malibu in the trailer. Had to back up and get a running start to get up the ramp because of black ice. I think I felt my Firebird shivering when I had to do the same thing with it to get it in the other trailer!

Believe it or not the school closings were announced the night before, when the snow was only a threat!
I grew up in Pittsburgh, when it snowed they slapped chains on the bus tires and your butt was going to school!

We had snow fall last year a few times that was in the 2 to 3 inches range and our school district closed the schools each time. It happened a total of 4 times and I had to burn 4 vacation days to stay home with my kids. Many others must have had to do the same because it caused a major uproar and the school district was fielding hundreds of angry calls and letters from residents.

So far they haven't canceled a single day yet. And that was after getting hit hard a couple of times and even facing single digit temperatures.

....I think they got the message.

I'll admit it, I grew up down here all my life and have no clue how to drive on this stuff. It doesn't help when the tires on my car are not all seasonal and not even designed for cold weather let alone snow and ice.

that snow was a joke even by south carolina standards....it was gone by noon, didn't even last 12 hours. We still had class, but I go to a private college so less chance of closing...

Heck, when I was in Minnesota years back, they closed the schools because the temperature was over 85 degrees (early summer in Austin). I couldn't help but laugh. Luckily I was only there for 2 years.
