      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borg-Wa...6_transmission

There are a lot of information easily found already out there. There is a ton of variation in the T56 transmission just for the Camaro much less Corvettes, Vipers, Mustangs, Astin Martins, Caddy CTS-Vs.

If you are serious about getting one for whatever your project, do some good research. If your wanting to put a T56 behind an old GM block (small or big), the easiest path will be the LT1 T56 from a 93-97 Camaro.

If your trying to get a Mustang T56 behind a GM engine, you need to take into consideration the input shaft length and spline count more than anything. I don't know if it's done very often.

There are significant errors in the Wikipedia T56 article. For example, they have the ratios for for the 1993-2002 Z28's and Firebirds all wrong. That's important, because those cars are by far the most popular source for used T56's swapped into other cars.

This is not correct. The easiest and cheapest path is to use an adapter plate and extended pilot bushing from McLeod Industries, and then the standard Chevy bellhousing, flywheel, pressure plate and clutch linkage (including mechnical linkage) of your choice. Using the LT1 T56 (which are getting scarcer) requires the use of a "pull" style clutch including an expensive after market flywheel for a two piece rear main seal engine and the LT1 hydraulic clutch linkage. The only advantage of the LT1 setup is that it locates the transmission 2" farther forward in the transmission tunnel than, for example, an LS1 T56 with the Mcleod adapter plate.

SFAIK (having looked at Viper, LS1 and LT1 T56's), all T56 main cases are the same. It's also relatively easy to swap input shafts between T56s with the same first gear ratios. By switching input shafts, front intermediate plates if needed (available from McLeod) and using the McLeod modular bellhousing, you can pretty much put the T56 of your choice behind the engine of your (reasonable) choice.

Look here for what you can do with the McLeod mdular bellhousing: http://www.mcleodind.com/application...L_HOUSING.html and here for a good conversation about swapping a T56 into a first generation Camaro (but it contains relevant information for any T56 swap): http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=98387

A T56 from LS 1998-2002 is the most readily available. The Viper is very good, but hard to get, and expensive second hand.

We manufacture a line of adapters and components for T56, incl:
      1. adapter plates - allows connection to factory conventional bell to allow reuse of mechanical clutch linkage. SBC, BBC, Ford SB & BB
      2. bellhousings - for both mechanical and hydraulic actuators. SBC, BBC, Ford SB & BB, Mopar SB & BB & HEMI gen 1/2/3
      3. hydraulic clutch actuator - concentric slave type, no dirt track stuff here, OE grade rated at 1million strokes, 300000 miles; we make these in kit forms for most popular muscle cars.
      4. clutch kits - conventional push clutch; both non-LS and LS style, as well as Ford, Mopar

My advice to you: Continue doing your homework on this swap. There is a thread here on Pro-Touring and also at the Team Camaro site with some useful information.

I don't think so, without changing the input shaft. I'd call McLeod and ask them.
