      High mileage LS1

Does anybody know what is considered high mileage for an LS1? Thanks Chris

It really comes down to wear on the cylinders more than how many miles. I have seen LS based engines with 100K miles and almost no wear at all. Then I've seen LS engines with 30K and were junk because they had been abused.

It is critical to have a machinist or someone with the proper dial bore gauges measure the wear in the cylinders to determine just how much wear has occured.

Otherwise it is a guessing game.

I have an lsx performace book that states that if well taken care of lsx motors are rated up to 200,000. The key here is history and care.

I have a LS based engine in my Truck with 247 K miles on it. Never done any thing but change the plugs once and the oil every 5K. These motors are awesome.

I just did heads/cam to an LS1 with 117k on the odo. I'll be dynoing it this coming weekend I hope. Cylinder walls looked great when I pulled the heads.

Like said, it's about care not mileage
