400m
My neighbor across the street has a 1970's f-250 with a 400M sitting under the hood with 60k miles on it...I was excited about it cuz he was gunna give me the motor until i heard that the 400m is a throw away motor...is this true? Everyone's been telling me its a dog

Most of what I've heard is negative. I have an Old Ranchero with that motor in it. I think Car Craft or Hot Rod magazine did a buildup of the 400 a few years ago. It is possible to get some power out of it, but i think there are many better engines. Just my .02

damn...that really blows, figures the motor is free and theres nothing i can do with it. I really don't feel like going through the hassle of finding all that stuff and then having to cut and shave to fit things

The horse power they got out of it isn't bad at all though if you have access to those pieces
