      E-Trans Tuning Option?

Received a few phone calls over the last few days. People wanted to know why we don't offer a transmission software tuning option like Keisler. The answer is very simple:

Tuning capability is standard. Always has been, always will be.

Actually ALL transmission controllers--Compushift, TCI, Baumann Engineering, GMPP and Powertrain Control Solutions allow you to tune your transmission. No need to pay extra for this capability. We can't think of a single good reason to charge extra for something that is standard.

After many years of selling and testing TCU's, we've become pretty darn good at developing calibrations. Every Compushift unit we ship includes a base calibration. But every end user and vehicle is different. Transmission calibration is tied directly to input torque and engine tune. So a base calibration is just that.
Fine tuning gives you the ability to personalize the transmission to match your exact driving preferences. 1-2 shift happening a little late? Tweak it. 3-4 shift too early? Tweak it. And should your vehicle specs change down the line (i.e. different tire dia.), you can change your settings in seconds--right in your garage.

Tuning is quick and easy. Lifetime support is only a phone call away. Fine tuning is the single best reason to choose an electronic transmission over its pre-electronic equivalent (i.e. 700R4 vs 4L60E)

      And it's STANDARD.

      Keisler Software

      Steve,
Since you mention our product specifically, I will address it as follows:

Our software is NOT the freeware software typically packaged with controller. Our Keisler TransView software is a custom version for the A-41 product specifically, and it has a number of special features not found in the generic software:
      1. Setup Wizard for the TPS calibration
      2. Unique data logging with real time playback with a graphic that shows what the throttle pedal is doing while you are replaying.
      3. A highly detailed installation and operation manual (1/2inch thick, fully bound, full color, fully illustrated, including all wiring diagrams)
      4. Validated calibrations for each A41 model. Please read this statement from our chief engineer (who, by the way, was the principle design engineer of the T56 6-speed at BorgWarner):
"Keisler software is therefore much simplified and easier to use for a customer without experience or knowledge in electronically controlled transmissions.
Through extensive vehicle testing, we have developed a base set of calibrations (both CAL A and CAL B) for economy or performance modes that include special settings for TC lockup and line pressure that enhance the A41 performance eliminating a lot of trial and error for the customer. We then "tweak" the shift table settings specifically for each customer and as well as adjust for axle ratio and tire size so that the controller is ready to go right out of the box. The software is also set for each TPS sensor sent out on each order.
We supply very detailed manuals (far superior to the generic manuals supplied by vendors and without all the extraneous information not pertinent to the 4L60E) explaining all the features available if the customer desires to fine tune the A41 for his application and personal preferences. In addition, we have added programmed upper and lower limits for calibration settings to prevent the customer from operating the A41 in extreme range settings that could result in premature wear to A41 internal components"
      5. Dual Mode Switch, control relay and wiring - included in the price for the TransView w/Dual Mode Switch, is the black rocker switch with blue LED Illumination, including control relay, wiring, connectors, instructions for a "plug and play" Cruise / Performance Mode switch allowing you to shift between calibrations on the fly, without stopping the vehicle. For PaddleShift equipped orders, the Performance mode position also puts the transmission into full manual mode.

While other vendors seem to place no value on software, it is because they don't pay anything extra for it. We developed our software as a custom solution, and there a cost for that development, plus the Dual Mode hardware is included.

At the end of the day, we supply the Software and DualMode Switch equipment FOR FREE, so it becomes a moot point.
