Noisy Tremec

I have a Tremec 3550 in my wife's Camaro and it's starting to make a loud whining noise. It doesn't do it when the car is coasting, only under acceleration. We've had rear end issues as well. I'm not sure if that might contribute. The previous owner beat on the car and the rear end actually shifted and the housing cracked at the leaf spring mounts. The PO welded the cracks instead of replacing the housing. I have found a new housing, but it isn't on the car yet. Any idea if the rear end might be causing my noise? I know Tremecs are noisy to begin with, my 3550 in my Mustang has a little gear whine, but the Camaro has just started with a loud whine.
