I feel your pain! I lost my computer to viral spyware over 2 weeks ago and still don't have it back. Was finally forced to drag my old and slow computer out of storage to at least retrieve my emails and surf the forums. So much for McAfee security protection.

do you have firefox? adblock? noscript? If not, then there is your problem. I've used them for years and have NEVER had a problem.

I use IE 7 and was actually looking at switching to Firefox before this happened. Definitely going to change when I get mine back. Guess I'm a slow learner.

IE is NOT your friend. If you had been running firefox with noscript you would have certainly been warned about what was about to happen. It's truly the best thing ever. You'll click something, noscript will intervene and say "hey, if you go through with this, *this* will happen. Is that what you had in mind? If not, then I just saved your ass."

Run, don't walk into the firefox world.

Since my last post, I was just reading about Firefox on their site and I'm liking what I read. Seems they have it all figured out and have my back too. Lots of features, add-ons and security. The minute I get my computer back I'm all about Firefox.

you'll be glad you did. You'll never look back. I get the same feeling from the floor of a taxi cab as I do from IE. It's just SO filthy and infected.

I switched to Firefox, and it works a LOT better. Hell, just the spell check wherever you type is too cool.

Chrome is a little lax on features but it's early still. Doesn't seem to always do pull-downs correctly at some sites also.

I like the Firefox add-ons. Good stuff.

Finally got my computer working correctly. Use an ad ware/spy ware program to remove the virus and reloaded windows. What a time consuming process, getting all valuables off the computer and re updating. I could have made serius progress on my nova in the 48 hrs it took me to fix this stupid thing. I since installed firefox, I will never use IE again, along with ad ware, ad block, no script and symantic. All seems to be working faster than ever. Thanks Tony L.

Man, it's been 3 weeks today since my pc crashed and I still don't have it back, UGH! At least I can use my old one for awhile. Stopped in at Best Buy again today looking at all the cool laptops.
I swear if I don't have mine back by the weekend, I'm going to buy a new Dell and call it good. By the way, whether I get mine back in one piece again or buy a new one, IE and all it's problems are history!
