      Eng. torque requierments

Het guys I'm rebuilding my very first engine. I've helped my friend before but never really paid attention to the fine details..SO...rod,main caps and head bolts, I need to know what to torque them to.

Also The order of torquing the heads bolts, center/clockwise or right to left you get the jist. I know this is kiddy stuff to most of you but you gotta start some time. I'm very excited, EFI is going on lots of chrome, painting the engine bay to match the car color....yeehaaw.

Yes steve chevy 350. I thought maybe someone might have it written down and could share so I wouldn't have to to buy a book. That's alittle extra cash that can go into the car. I'll figure it out.

If you look at the pattern, it's a spiral moving out from the center. Works for about anything if you torque down in steps.

Seriously? You're rebuilding your engine and you'd rather get specs from strangers on the internet than buy a book? I find that very funny.

Ball breaking aside, a quality book will pay for it self the first time you don't spin a bearing or you don't run your crank over. What are your main bearing clearences going to be? Rod clearences? Ring gaps?

I can't think of a title off the top of my head but a simple search will give you plenty.

Thanks for the info guys. Don't worry I'm not going into this blind. I have a great sorce of info in my friend who has built engines his whole life. I'll probable buy the book anyway. I thought I would try and get more involved here on the site....Thanks again.

Usually the rebuild kit should have all your specs as well. I agree a good book has all the specs to fall back on if you are lacking some for the original parts.
