      2000 Tahoe Brake Bleeding question

      I have a dumb question about the brakes on my tow vehicle (2000 Tahoe). Today I changed the rotors, pads and calipers on the front of my Tahoe and then bled all 4 brakes till there was no air present in the bleeder line but I dont have a pedal when the truck is running. Is there something special that needs to be done with the ABS or ??????? I'm at a loss....hopefully someone has had this same problem and can point me in the right direction.

      did you let the system ( master cylinder ) run out of fluid? are you bleeding the brakes in this order RR,LR,RF,LF? and if you did let the system run out of fluid it will be nec to perform a automatted (spelling?) bleed on the abs pump/motor in order to get all the air from the system. now if you did not let the system low on fluid and you did bleed the brakes in that order are you sure that you dont have any leaks? are you useing a vacuum bleeder or are you manualy bleeding the brakes?. i would manual bleed them it it was me. I hope this helps.

      Did not let the master cylinder go empty. Bled everything manually. I did bleed them RR, LR, RF, LF. I did double check and there were no leaks (that was my first thought). How would you do an automated bleed on the ABS (Take it to the Dealer?) I was pretty sure I got the air out but ??????? I have done brake jobs hundreds of times (Non ABS) and have never had a problem like this.

      Yes your would need a GM tech-2 scan tool for the abs bleed. but you shouldnt need to do that since you didnt let the MC go dry. I would try and bleed the brakes a few more times. and see how it goes.

      We never have to even install the tech 2 to do any kind of bleed outside of replacing the abs pump/modulator assy. You can try this trick if you want. Put a small vac hose on the bleeder and run the end of the hose into a clear clean container with brake fluid in it. Push the pedal down slowly and then let it up slowly, you will push fluid out and then pull fluid back in. You shouldn't have to do this though, best to have someone pump the pedal 3x then open the bleeder and repeat 5-6 times each wheel if you don't hear any air then move to the next. You have air somewhere that you induced somehow.

      your right you would only need the tech-2 if you replaced the abs pump/motor, or let the system run out if fluid. he should not need to bleed the abs pump.
