      LSX mounts

I bought some ATS motor plates and mounts for my 68 camaro. Has anyone else used these that might have a reccomendation on what oil pan to use right now I have a F-body pan will this work. If not will the LH8 pan work it looks like provides max clearance.

How about our LSX road race pan to compliment our plates? They were engineered hand in hand for a total 100% bolt in fit.

The F body pan will need to be notched to clear the drag link, and the LH8 pan is the worlds worst idea for a swap in an F body ever. It will be the lowest part of the car by a bunch.

Who started this LH8 pan deal anyways?
Regular truck pans are three inches too deep. The LH8 pan is only one inch shorter.

Well buying the pick-up and tray for the morso pan is the best way to go and probably the cheapest!

The modified f-body pan also works well. But the modification probably consumes a quart or so of oil capacity.

Tylers stuff is top notch, if you have the cash....

Both Tyler's pan and the moroso pan require a remote filter which is additional to the cost of the pan. If you're going for a custom look those are the way to go.

The autokraft pan is pretty good and there's no remote filter as it mounts to the pan.

Or you can run with the notched f-body pan... I have one for sell if you're interested.

But DO NOT use the LH8 pan, that thing is horrible. It hangs too low and you're bond to break it

I run the Moroso pan, a very nice pan IMO. You do need a remote mount filter and in order to run the remote mount you need two female -10an fittings to get by the pan bump out. These are about $20 each. I run the ATS mounts. They are very nice.

      Hers everything i used

      Moroso pan - $225
Moros deep sump pick up tube (must buy) - $89
1/2" NPT remote mount oil filter kit with lines- $60
      Edelbrock/Earls -10an , and 1/2" npt fittings - $80
LPE high volume pump with hight pressure spring - $100 (75psi hot idle, 100psi above 2000rpm)

Also when using the lines if you use -AN lines all the way you dont need to use Teflon tape on them AN lines seal themselves unlike NPT. But then you have to adapt your oil pressure sensor somewhere else in the system. My oil pressure sensor was NPT so i just added an NPT "T" after the filter. be sure to use TEFLON TAPE not teflon paste like i used in that pic. The teflon paste leaked badley.

Here is a pic of our LSX road race pans to help show you the quality and engineering that went into them.

Here is an external view- the pan is CNC laser cut, bent and fixture welded by TIG, and finished in clear powdercoating:

We include all the items needed to bolt the pan down; full metric stud kit with flange nuts, brand new GM oil pan gasket, two -12AN fittings to help ease plumbing of the remote oil filter kit, a 1/8" NPT fitting off the remote oil line to allow bolt in of an Autometer oil pressure gauge, two 3/8" NPT plugs at the front of the pan for twin turbo oil drain backs, and even an additional 1/8" NPT plug in the rear of the sump for an oil temp sending unit. We even give a new oil pick up with O ring to help keep the engine fed.

Here is a close up of the welds:

Our pan has internal 4 way trap doors for oil control during road racing, and an aluminum windage tray to help keep oil off the crank, and in the sump:

      More detail and beauty shots:

The pan does not hang below the frame at any point either, making it a top choice for low vehicles. We also choose to use the remote mount oil filter to keep the high temp of the header heat out of the oiling system; a must for track days.

Wow that is beautiful! Whats that kit cost? For those wondering the LS1 oil pan gasket is $53 from autozone if i remember right.

To get the Moroso pan where yours is with no hardware it would be about $415. I know i had some sort of trap door setup in the moroso but dont have a fitting on the front of the pan like you do. Does yours hold 7 qts too?

Our pan is $550 as shown. We use a GM gasket, not autozone, so the pricing on the gasket is close to $90. Our pan holds 5.5 qts of oil, and almost another qt in the lines/filter.

tyler, why the remote filter? thats the main reason i went with the autokraft pan. i have to say though, im less than happy with the welding on my pan. i dont expect it to look as nice as yours, but a little nicer would have sufficed.

Will that pan work with a 70 camaro and will your engine mounts work also?....Do you engine mounts move the engine back so the back of the engine would be in the stock position?...
      Thanks

      Widowmaker-

I stated in my previous reply that the remote mount oil filter was chosen over a screw on mount to keep the high temp of the headers from permeating the oil; a must for racing.

      k7King-

Out plates will work in a 2nd gen so long as the frame stands are matched accordingly. The factory F body 4th gen pan will work in the frame as well, so you don't need to swap to an aftermarket one. The mounts will not keep the engine in the factory location, it moves it forward slightly. Look at our Project section of our website under Jeff Mortenson's 70 Camaro for reference pics.

      Shawn-
We use a CV products racing type 747 remote filter housing with a Fram HP6 filter- it is huge, costly, and works perfectly in a competition environment. There are cheaper kits out there from others, we choose to offer only the highest quality ones that we would install on our own cars.

Yeah i think my kit allows the same filter. It interchanges with K&N part 3001 or 3002 i cant remember which they are big filters. I thought the orgional number for the filter mine came with was like PH6A or something. You run much larger lines then i did. I wish i'd seen you pan though i would have definately bought it.

When i bought your ATS plates they came with mounting hardware but the bolts for mounting to the block were too long for some reason. I ended up using some other metric bolts i had laying around. Was that just a problem i had or was it a common problem? I removed the LS1 plates myself the day i put those on so i know there wasnt anything in the holes.

You will have some interference problems with the hooker and Sw headers withe the ATS plates. If you want a clean install go with ATS headers and plates or go with another set up. SW plates fit well with their headers or Hooker headers fit well with hooker plates or 1" setback plates(still some small interferance problems). Just my experience. I have tried many plates and headers minus the ATS. Just out of my budget but have seen them to be top notch(Headers seem geared towards high HP modified engines LS2-LS7, may be wrong). ATS plates are in between SW and Hooker as far as setback as far as I can tell. Tyler may prove me wrong but has been what I have researched. Just my .02.

I ran ATS plates and hooker headers. They wil barely clear. I dimpled the one header primary for added clearence of the pitman arm just to be safe.
