Has anyone on here sent out their harness to Wait4meperformance? Trying to get some reviews before I send my stuff out.

      Thanks

I used them for a tune and harness conversion for my 69 Ls1 build..

They did a good job worth the money..

We did alot of extra cleaning, re-taping and re-looming after it came back as they didnt make it look too PRETTY..

      Other wise good deal..

Are you guys able to mount your computers inside the car with his modified harness or is it too short? I dont want to mount my compute rin the engine bay. Would prefer to have it hiding under the dash. Thanks

It's long enough to get it inside the car a foot or so but not much further. I drilled a hole in the firewall near the passenger's head and used a split grommet.

A GTO harness is longer and will work with the ECM mounted on the front LH wheelwell. It's also plenty long enough to reach into the interior with plenty to spare. The only three things to deal with are, 1) the harness is meant to go to the LH side of the engine compartment, unlike 4th gen RH side, 2) the wiring is a different color than 4th gens, but the pinout schedule is the same, 3) the greeen harness plugs will need to be replaced with red ones if a 4th gen PCM is used ($5.)

Can't you just have Wait4me lengthen the harness?

Well...I'm not building a show car anyway. I'll be mounting mine on the firewall in plain view. Who cares. As long as the car puts a grin on my face when I lean into the accelerator that's all I'm concerned about.

I've never used them, but LS1wiringharness.com will make an extra length LSx wiring harness.

Though Speartech is not the cheapest by any means, there are good reasons why it is more and, for me at least, the way to go.

It is a completely new harness, not a modified stock unit, thus the bulk of the expense is right there in connectors and wire. Looks great out of the box.

When it comes to custom lengths, they will build it to what you need whether is in the engine bay, interior or even the trunk. They do not limit themselves or you on what they can do. Most of the time an extra foot or two of main harness to put it in the cars interior is not extra. Now the trunk area may be more

Each Speartech harness is built on an engine (and trans if needed) to ensure proper fit and it is also literally run on an engine to ensure everything works. He also runs every ECM, PCM and VCM if he is supplying one. I believe he has about 8 or so engine and trans setups all ready to run. Each test engine/trans setup has its own radiator, battery and fuel system ready to go.

Speartech does also offer to modify the factory harnesses.

Again, for the cost consious folks on a budget, modifying the stock harness is an option, but has its pros and cons. I also wonder if each modified factory harness is tested somehow to verify everything is good. I do not know the answer on that one.

For me comparing a company like Speartech who builds a new harness from scratch can not be compared to a company that modifies used factory harnesses. Two totally different approaches.
