      Anaconda Knob

      Greeting Folks,

The leather on my Momo shift Knob was looking a little ratty, so I dipped into my leatherworking experience and replaced it with Anaconda. It involves a lot of trimming and stretching to get the pattern of the scales to look quite right, as well as the willingness to glue one's fingers together. I covered the skin mostly with Epoxy, leaving enough scale texture for gription.

When I get tired of this I am going to go with Stingray skin.

Hope you guy's and gal's dig it!

      -Nick

      Glad you guy's like it.

Ever since my crotchety machine tool instructor said kah-nurled fur Gription it has yet to leave my vocabulary.

You can get Anaconda in a bunch if colors through most Exotic Leather dealers online. This batch was given to me by a friend.

I really want to do Ray or Sharkskin the next time around. Perhaps in Red.

It's a fine line between unique and cheesy.

Do you think you can wrap a steering wheel with it? That would be a nice match to the shift lever.

      That is the goal.

Snakeskin will not have the longevity that I would like on a steering wheel. The epoxy coat on the Knob is very durable, but I perfer a more tactile feel on steering wheels.

I think Shark or Rayskin would be the material of choice for steering wheels.

It is going to be REALLY tough to do, but I think worth it.

I read the thread title and expected something very different, and not work friendly.
