      How much clearance?

I dropped my motor into the car, LS1 with and H3 Oil pan, it barely clears. The oil pan is about an 1/16 of inch off the crossmember, so looks like i will have to shim the mounts somehow to yield more clearance. My question is how much clearance will i need? as anybody else ran into something similar?

      Thanks

An oil pan should have more clearance than that. How much depends on where it's close and what type of mounts used.

I am sure you are right ...I figured people have run the H3 pan and S&P setup and would have had the same issue. Hoping for simple a answer...thanks for the replies!

Theree are no simple answers here. If you are running flexible mounts that probably won't cut it. I'd shim the motor up to a 1/4inch.

Self clearance was a bad joke just meaning the pan will dimple where it hits. Solid or poly mounts (or shimming) would solve that.
