67 camaro power seat?

does anybody know of a bolt in power seat track for my 67 camaro? my wife is short and wants a power seat in it but i havn't found anythiing. my stock seats are in good shape i hate to yank them to replace w/ a new style but if thats my only option, what works best?

C5 Corvette seats and tracks will probably be very easy to bolt in and make fit and can be found very reasonable with harnesses on ebay. You might have to look for awhile to get the passenger seat in electric but 2 drivers seat tracks would solve that problem as long as the harness doesn't become a problem.

It is definately a wide open path and there should be some more really good suggestions coming your way soon.

You may should be able to make a plate that would be able to mate the base to your existing seats. the one problem you may encounter with that is the height may go up reducing the headroom. With the C5 seats I could see you actually gaining a 1/2" or being the exact same. You will have to physically get measurements to know.

From what I have measured on the bases is that you should be able to stradle front and back the Camaros mounting base and mount the C5 bases directly to the floor. When you look at the bases you will know what I mean. There are many pics of them usually on ebay and sometimes you will see the dimensions.

You can go to a car lot, dealer or swap meet and take a tape measure and get the dimensions. I don't have the info I wrote down where I can find it anymore.

The nice thing about the C5 bases are that they are the lowest profile I have seen and there may be others that are slimmer but I don't know of them from what I have seen.

Hopefully someone who has actually done this conversion done this will chime in.

headroom wouldn't be an issue 'cause we never have the top up.......except during storage in the winter months

I talked to your wife this morning and she explained she is a bit short, hence the need for electric seats.

FYI, if you notice the stock seat ina camaro goes up as it goes forward. You can increase the reack of the seat and adjust the back rest so that the seat goes higher as it goes forward, then you can still drive it when it slides back and down

Great way of looking at it Frank.

Blocks could also be added between the track and the floor to raise it up some too.

It is definately a much easier and less expensive way to go.

I have always been tempted by those electric seats everrytime I see a set at a swapmeet. The weight of them is not too bad but all of the extra wiring just seems to get me to just forget about it.

FWIW, I installed C6 Corvette seats in my car - the bases are similar to C5s. It's not a very difficult install, but it definitely takes some fabrication. Side to side the mounting locations of the Vette seats are wider than the original Camaro seats by about 1", and as Jim pointed out, they're much longer front to rear. The seat tracks also have "legs" that kick up a couple inches at the front (the Vette floors are flat), so if you mount them on top of the existing seat pan, the angle gets a little extreme unless you prop up the rear mounts - then you might run into headroom issues - doesn't sound like an issue for her, but it might be for you. I'm 5'-10" and had to cut the legs down almost 2", which allowed me to mount the front of the seats to the existing pan. If you straddle the existing seat pan F to R and mount the seats directly to the floor, headroom shouldn't be as big an issue and it does move the seat closer to the pedals, but you should reinforce the floorpan where the seats mount. You'd still probably have to fabricate some way to mount them at the rear due to the contour of the floorpan. thanks for all the info and suggestions.....i'll spend a few weeks deciding which way to go......if i find me a coupe to start on i'll just block the seat up for mama and put the c5-c6 seats in mine!!!!!
