Basically it is the same as a Wilwood Superlite caliper. After preaching the attributes of the mono block caliper for some years, Baer now makes the Pro caliper which just happens to be a 2 piece caliper VERY similar to the Wilwood Superlite. Wilwoods are less money still

BAER pro's... they are "elegant", "eye catching" (so they say) and blingy.

BAER con's... they are heavy. Extremely heavy.

Mono-block means nothing today. With the advent of FEA... many two piece calipers are stronger than mono blocks... at a fraction of the cost for mono's.

      Tough call.

Both systems work. Both systems have good options. Both are from trustworthy manufacturer's that support their products... with the only exceptional advantages in cost and weight going towards Wilwood.

Thank's for your input. Now if the price for each system were the same would the weight be much of a factor on a car that is street driven 75%of the time?

Weight is always a issue. More lighter, more better! The Wilwoods will be less money once you compare a Baer set and all the stuff to make them work to a Total Car G Machine Package.

I prefer Wiliwoods bang for the buck no matter what the track to street ratio is.

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?

Why would anyone go with something other then the C6 Z06 setup? For the money they have to be the best bet (6 piston front, 4 piston rear with 14's and 13's) I think this is a no brainier/ I paid 1300.00 for the complete setup.

...Most likely due to the fact of the associated problems/issues that are common to the GM ZO6 system.

Just went through this on a Mopar conversion with XV Motorsports C5 based front end. Negatives to the C6 Z06 setup in a nonvette conversion include getting a rear parking brake setup to work with it, heavy cast front rotors with backwards vanes on one side to cut costs, heavier calipers than the wilwoods, tricky caliper clearance issues. I really wanted to go that route as well as the fronts would have been close to a bolt up deal. By the time I bought "good" rotors and finally got a rear parking brake that worked I would be spending just as much as a ready to go wilwood setup. Still a very viable option for alot of guys.

i put together a c6 zo6 kit with a parking brake from tobin for $2000. i did some shopping for the rotors and calipers, but it really wasnt that hard to find a good price. for the money, NOTHING!!! beats them. but like said above, if i would have gone with the 2 piece rotors instead of my DBA 4000 slotted (correctly veined), i would have spent about 1k more. for this price, the other systems start looking really good.

a lot of the reason people hate them is the fact that they HAD poor rotor options in the beginning. not only were they not veined correctly, but they were heavy as hell. now, many major players are producing 2 piece rotors that have a good track record and have reduced the weight by as much as 33%.

second was the available pad compounds. this issue has been solved as well in the aftermarket. if you want a track compound, its there. if you want a dd pad its there. if you want a good combo pad, its there as well.

a lot of guys do replace them on their zo6, but if you can pay 70k for a decent track car, why not spend 5k more for an aftermarket set of brakes.

      sorry for the continued hijack.....
