      Anti-virus recommendations

I'm currently using Verizon DSL and recently got an email saying they will no longer provide online protection starting 8 Dec.

They do offer their Internet Security Suite for an additional $5.99 per month. Obviously that would be the easiest way to keep my computer safe, but is it the most cost effective way?

Are there any free programs that are worthwhile? What do you guys use?

      Thanks!

I have used the AVG/Grisoft free version for years without issue. Works like a champ.

I use AVG Pro for all our work machines and AVG Free for everything else. I also use Spybot Search and Destroy. It's free too.

Here's a link from Download.com with some info.

If you use Vista 32 or Vista 64, then I recommend NOD32 from Eset. I never had a problem with it, and I tried all of the rest. Here is a comparison against the other companies. http://www.eset.com/products/compare...ompetition.php
It is free for 30 days and then you have to buy a license. http://www.eset.com/

Kasperski is usually the highest rated. I have used AVG free version for years w/o problems.
