      LS1 engine swap

      Hey guys,
I'm looking to swap a LS1 into the 1st gen.

I'm to the stage of powdercoating my front clip but before I have it powdercoated... I've ready that you had to notch the frame to fit the LS1 engine. Can anybody verify this?

      Thanks
      Shad

You only have to notch the frame for two reasons

      1. If you plan on using the LS1 a/c compressor (f-body mounting position), which is on the lower passenger side.
      2. If you plan on using a front-mount rack/pinion steering setup. The steering shaft has to pass thru the k-member.

      Other than that, nope.
