      Thank you Mary Pozzi

I wanted to take this opportunity to publically thank Mary Pozzi for her help, advice, and support at the optima Ultimate Streetcar Invitational today. I had actually driven in an autocross competition myself (actually I had never SEEN an autocross competition live before today) and Mary took time out of her busy day to give me some very valuable advice while walking the course with me before the competition. I would love to say that I retained much of that advice while I was in the car but only a fraction stuck with me.

Mary - I doubt that I could have done as well as I did today in the autocross without your help - thank you so very much.

      James,

You did great and it was so neat seeing your car navigate through the cones. Beautiful car and well-driven!!

Just got home from SEMA and the optima Challenge so am viewing the boards in between routing the mountain of laundry between a washer and dryer.

Had a great time all last week and really enjoyed meeting all the people that had a hand in the optima Challenge ... car owners/drivers AND the event organizers/sponsors. A stellar group and very well-run event.

      Cheers,
      Mary Pozzi

I have in car video of Mary driving the autocross but I can't post it until I bleep out all of the swear words...

I think my favorite car at the event would have to be the One Lap car. It's truly a no-compromise work of art. I imagine we will be in for a real challenge when he gets it sorted out.

Oh Steve, I wouldn't have believed I said those words unless I'd heard it myself ... and unfortunately, I did and it's true. There will be some serious insertion of bleeps for that video, methinks.

With the "better" cars, I cuss like a banshee when things don't go as planned or as I should say, as fast as planned. In that portion of the autocross, Penny chose that particular moment to park herself in the end sweeper and tell me in no uncertain terms that further cooperation wasn't an option. With my right foot, convincing Penny that being a pill wasn't appreciated obviously didn't work so Plan B was verbal abuse.

Can't wait to hear the edited version of the video ...

      Cheers,

When Penny is difficult you just need to abuse her more.. just ask Dave.

Working on the video.. I don't know what's funnier.. you cursing or Tyler screaming and giggling like a school girl.

It was an awesome time and everyone who ran the autocross benefitted from Mary's efforts.

I was glad to be there and meet her in person. As a cone-picker-upper I was able to see how and why she laid the course out like she did. Lots of thought went into it, and all I spoke with agreed it was a really cool little course.

Her driving (in several cars) showed anyone watching how it's supposed to work. Kyle and Stacy did really well too, as did a couple others, but overall- Mary schooled us on autocrossing.

Cool gal, cool event. I'm better for knowing her.
