      Hello From Ohio

Hello everyone. I wanted to introduce myself as I am a new member of this site. My name is Nick and I am the owner of a restoration and customizing shop out here in Ohio. I recently purchased a 1978 Trans Am and have plans to turn it into a full out PT monster. It will be very similar to the current "Bandit III" edition T/A's being made by the folks at Year One, but will have quite a few of my own special touches. I'm sure it will be a long process as I have to fit this project into my schedule. We all know how it goes, we always have time for other peoples rides and never seem to have enough for our own. Anyway, I hope to do the transformation in stages and end up with a somewhat unique and awesome ride. I have been a huge fan of taking these old cars and making them new and ultra-modern for years now. Hopefully now I'll finally have a PT ride of my own instead of just building them for others. I'm sure this site is going to be a very useful tool for me during the build process.

      Thank You,
Nick from Mid West Classics & Customs

Sounds like a cool project. Gotta love those Pontiacs. Me and my twin brother recently built a Pro Touring '69 GTO. There is a post on it on page two of this section under the title 'New guy from Ohio with '69 GTO!' I'm not too far from you. I live in Pandora and my brother lives in Ft. Jennings. The car is at his place. Oh Yeah, welcome to the site. Might stop by and check out your shop. I didn't even know about your shop and have been by there several times. Lookin for help?

      Hello From Ohio

Hey Guys. Thanks for the warm welcome. BretB, stop bye anytime. I'm on Main Street in Ottawa right next to Bell Auto Supply. I took my sign down so I could paint the outside of the shop but you can't miss me. Just look for the blindingly white building with an old beat-up chevy pick-up next to it. I'll get some pictures of the car up on the site once it arrives at the shop.

The projects tentative name is going to be "My Turn" because it's my turn to have a cool ride. I've always been so close to building a custom of my own but it has never seemed to work out. For some reason or another, circumstances always seemed to dictate that I had to sell the cars I planned on building. I've had (3) '67 Camaro convertibles, (5) '69 Camaro's of which 2 were convertibles, (2) '68 Firebird 400 ragtops, T/A's, Z28's, Monte Carlo SS, etc, etc. You get the picture. I was only able to build one of those '69 Camaros to completion for myself and I went the wrong route with it. I restored the car to an as-built showroom condition #'s car and then was afraid to drive it for fear of hurting it's value. That was back in 1995 and I swore from that day on I would never build another trailer queen for myself. I hope this new project is here to stay and I get to build and enjoy it. I also have a basket case '69 Firebird convertible in my shop that is going to be a project for me and my son. He's young and we have a lot of time for that car so it's going to be one wild ride when it's finished.

I forgot to include a link to my website. It's still under construction so don't rip me too bad guys. Give me some feedback on it as well.

      Hello From Ohio

Thanks Guys. Actually I'm not a real Buckey. I'm a transplant since 2001. I'm from good old New Jersey and my wife is the one who got me out here. I'm an east coast guy to the bone, but it's a lot more wide open and quiet where I live now though I do miss those girls in bikini's on the beach.

I'm sure I'll be in contact with you Frank. I've seen and admire your work tremendously. You turn out some awesome projects. I think my sons '69 Bird convertible has as much rust as the one you reserected. You know, it has more rust than the Titanic. It should be a fun project to do with him as time goes bye.

I'll get some pics of the new project up soon. The car is supposed to arrive here at the shop early next week. Maybe I'll even throw in a couple pics of the rusty old Bird.

      Thanks,
      Nick

      Project "My Turn" Pics

Well the '78 T/A arrived the other day and it is definitely going to be a project. It appears to be solid in all of the important areas at least as much as I've gone over it. This car was ridden hard and put away very wet. When it gets back from media blasting, the truth shall be revealed. Plans are lots of power and go fast goodies as well as some cool rolling stock and all dressed in Black. I'm sure it will take me a while to complete and things will change along the way. It's going to be a full-out family project since my wife and son are eager to help (for now anyway). I've attached some current pictures.

      Hey Nick,
Where you getting the car blasted? There's a place outside of Pandora called G & R Sandblasting that does soda blasting also. They have decent prices, at least to me, and do a good job. My brother and I took the GTO we built to a place in Findlay(can't remember the name) and they didn't do a very good job and were pricey compared to G & R. We ended up taking the car to G & R to finish blasting all the spots the other place didn't get. Left a lot of undercoating on the car.
