      I'm hooked

I just wanted to take a moment and say thanks and introduce myself. I've been a registered member for a while now but never really visited much. Here lately though I just cant seem to stay away. The builds being documented on this board are second to none. The amn tof detail shared trumps the best of the builds on the popular tv shows and even most magazine articles.

My car is a 1972 Ford Maverick. Its due for some freshening up but this is how she sits for now.

      Hey Chris,
      Nice car and welcome.
      Is the chin spoiler factory?
I am also interested in the tire/wheel combo.
      I have a friend looking for a Maverick/Comet.
Your car will surely motivate him!

Great car Chris! Tastefully done and Welcome! Around here (new england) most of the Mavericks and Comets rusted away prematurely so I don't see many anymore.

      Thanks for the welcome.

Currently the car sits on a tweaked stock suspension for mostly looks. It will corner some but ride quality suffers greatly.

      Suspension:
      American Racing Hopster wheels
      17X8 front 245/45-17
      17X9.5 rear 275/40-17
620 Coil springs cut 1 coil
      de-arched 4 leaf spings

I suppose you could call this car a running mule. I make all my upgrades to it with the intent of trying it out and perfecting it only to eventually tear it down and transfer everything over to a new shell. There are no tried and true direct bolt-ins for this car so everything is trial and error.

Future plans are to upgrade the rear suspension to something more corner worthy with a TCI Torque Arm rear suspension package. It should be mostly bolt-in. The front suspension will receive a Fatman Strut suspension conversion and rack and pinion steering. Tires and wheels will go to 18X10 295/40-18 rear and 17X9 255/45-17 front and of course big brakes all around.

OR... If i where to win the lottery, RRS front strut suspension, rack and pinion kit and rear 3-link.

      The factory weight is ~2700
I've lightened it up with heads, intake, exhaust and radiator.
Weighed it down with Camaro bucket seats, center console, 3-10" subs and 2 layers of dynamat.
I'd like to think I broke even and it weighs about the same but my best guess would be ~2800.

oh... and the front spoiler is 67-68 ish Mustang.
