To boost or not to boost??

Well, here is my dilema. When tracking my car, I was always put off by the lack of "modulation" and feel with my power brake set up. I have since gone to a C-5 corvette front and rear set up with EBC Yellow stuff pads, and 7/8" master, run as a manual brake system. So now my issue is the car just won't stop. I couldn't lock the brakes using both feet! the car weights 3500 lbs, and just plain may require some brake boosting.

      1) is there a vacuum booster with an adjustable amount of assist?

      2) I have never driven a hydroboost set up, is it like a vacuum booster, with poor feel and modulation?

      3) Other options, bionic leg?

      thanks

      Keith

      2. Hydroboost has a better feel than a vacuum booster IMHO. Go test drive any 96-up Mustang GT (4.6L), they have hydroboost which works well.

I have C5 front brakes/LS1 rears with a manual 1" bore Corvette master and Hawk HP+ pads. At first they didn't stop real well, but now they are bedded in, they stop great without a lot of foot power needed. To lock them up totally may require 2 feet, but they work fine with one foot autocrossing (I left foot brake it). Randy

thanks for the info Randy. I too left foot brake in autoX. With 500 ft lbs of torque, why shift. I have a buddy with a 2006 Shelby, maybe he will let me drive it!
