I'll check my TCI software when I get home to see if you can confirm solenoid operation from the dashboard screen. I think you can.

does it shift on its own from 2-3? or do you have to manually shift it?

Steve I did some reading and to troubleshoot the solenoids unplug TCU connector and with a multimeter you can check them. Shift solenoid A and B 20-30 Ohms. Pressure control solenoid 3.5-8 Ohms. TCC solenoid 10-15 Ohms. Now if I could check them from the dash that would be wonderful. Also could the TCU be bad? Thanks again for the help Steve.

Gen3bu I have the Shrifter and it hasn't been in auto since I got it but when start from a standstill it starts in 2nd and I have to double click on the paddle for 3rd.
      Thanks again BIGVIN

I think it's time to give Mark Bowler a call. He's had a coupla TCI controllers go bad. I haven't. But then again, I haven't touched one in two years. We're all Compushift now.

There should be no reason to double tap the Shrifter. As long as the test light on the receiver lights up, it has done it's part. That's what we put them there for. Easy way to isolate the paddle shifter. Then again, the paddle shifter has absolutely nothing to do with automatic mode. Once you throw that toggle switch to auto mode, the TCU simply ignores inputs from the Shrifter. So the double tap thing is weird. Maybe the TCU is freaking out.

Steve on another forum someone said it could be a 1-2 shift valve that is stuck or something lodged in the solenoid feel hole. Maybe when I start off the TCU thinks it's in 1st I tap paddle TCU shifts to 2nd but it's allready there I tap paddle 2nd time shifts to 3rd. Time to buy a manual.

Mark is awesome. I doubt he will mind. And you're welcome to give me a call to review your basic TCOM setup and calibration. But I smell a mechanical issue. Hopefully it's something simple.

Just got off the phone with Mark Bowler what a nice guy. He seems to think it's a solenoid or a the transmission wire harness. He told me how to check these and if I have any ? to give him a call. Now I have to get into the garage and work on it.
      Thanks Steve and Mark
