      Poll barn rant

      Hey guys,

This is my first real rant on this board… so here it goes.
I am homeschooled so if my ADD does not get in my way I can be done with school just a little after 12. Then the rest of the day I get to work on the car, well we are finally getting some nice weather and I have been working outside but I am still in direct sunlight. Well when we first moved into the house we are at now the previous owner left a poll car port kind of thing it is 20 feet long and just lick short of 11 feet wide so I thought heck I’ll put that thing up then I could push the car underneath it and work on it outside… how hard could it be… mistake one!! OHH MY GOSH!!! First off my grandpa had borrowed it from us and we finally get it back and we leave it back in the back for a few months, well the other day I walk back there to look at it and it looks like somebody slaughtered a flippin moose in the tree and got it all over the polls, I still have no clue as to what it is but anyways I start putting this darn thing together and my first sign I should stop while I am ahead not one of these damn goes where I think it should!! Well I keep working at it and I get about half way through… dad walks outside and just start busting out laughing I ask him what he laughing at? He then informs me that every poll I have managed to assemble is a different length from the one next to it. So I pull it all back apart and call it a day. Today I get an early start on the demonic devise and get to putting it back together and it goes together so fast I actually felt good about it, then I look closely at my pile of poles and I am one poll short, how do you lose a piece of pipe? Well along with my missing poll there are a few polls that are bent so I call dad and see if he could snag me a piece of scrap and before I finish my sentence he says I don’t have anything that small. Ok I will put that poll on after we pickup a piece at home depot. Now my second mistake came when I told dad “this thing is great, you can do your own configuration with the different lengths of polls” now most of you can probably figure out where this is going. So I go off and do some stuff at our barn, come back and grab the tarp that has been folded up and laying in the dirt for a few months so I don’t expect this going good, I unfold it and this tarantula / moose eating spider come hauling butt at me, I don’t think I have mentioned how much I hate spiders, well knocked him off and went back to building. I then realized wait this tarp is just as big as the poll barn so I grabbed some rope and tided the two corners up and went to string it up on the roof, well I am 6’1 and 218 pounds this barn thing is at least 10 foot tall, and do I grab a ladder? Nope I set the trash can/old shell oil can on it top and stand on it… No, I did not fall off, that is about the only thing that went right. I get the tarp over the top and I tie down the one side without thinking and get to the other side and pull it tight, well it is about three and a half feet to short well I figured out you can only configure one way. So I take it back apart. This is the time by the way. And I realized wait I have the longest polls on the roof so I get that figured out and swap them out and, it finally all goes together and dad finally gets a chance to help me and we throw the tarp up and it is now a foot to short at the end and is about 4 inches to short on each side I said forget it, it will work for what we want to do, then guess who walks up… Good ole mom what does she say? “Why did you put it there?” I say “because it is not in the way of the roll up door, why?” and I then say jokingly say because it looks trashy… she replies yes. What ever. Dad said the other day he wants to extend the whole front of the shop out as a car port to have a place to park our boat other then inside the shop. Sorry for such a long story but anybody who has every tried to put on of these things together more then likely will understand the frustration these hateful creations are capable of producing.

Watch out so the "very well" doesn't turn into "can't at all"

Just kidding with you. I think it's great you're taking initiative to do something alot of kids your age would be in way over their head doing.
