Platinum sucks....

Hey everyone, I started chemo and radiation on monday and I have to say that platinum is maybe good for plating but it really sucks for your blood. The radiation is a CNC machine with a radiation gun basically.

My anti nausea pills are the same color as my car, bright yellow !

I am doing as good as can be expected but I can hardly wait till it is all done. The mask they put you in is tighter than 5 point harness on a panic stop. I get a little clostrophobic but I get thru.

I pray noone ever has to go thru this. I just keep telling myself I am getting better and not worse.

So that's about it for now, hopefully my sense of humor won't go as bad as it did with the surgery and Derek won't have to spank me for my comments, lol.

Like what's the process? They strap you down and start blasting you with radiation with the CNC gun? I hope you don't mind me asking, and you don't have to share if you don't want to, I'm just curious.

Sometimes it helps me to chat about medical stuff when I go through it. At any rate, I hope you do well.

Hey Kevin, I am going to get a picture of me in the machine. It is just like a CNC machine table with a Mazak head that is about 6 ft in dia. You lie down and they snap this head gear that is like a web or a collender for rinsing food. It holds your shoulders to the top of your head from moving at all. If there is 2mm of space it is a blessing. To me it is too tight but they say it will get looser as I lose weight.

I get 2 types of nausea pills. Zofran is one of them and it is $500 for a prescription, thank god for insurance it was only $75 to me. it really does work as I found out when I thought I could do without it because I felt really good. Then it went downhill for the week so far but I am catching on to how to take the meds for me.

I am trying my best to eat and exercise, it's harder than i thought to drink as much water as they want me to but I am trying to keep flushing myself out.

I get chemo on every monday and radiation 5 days a week. The platinum is every third week and the rest are some other treatment they are trying out.

I was thinking that platinum sucks too, considering it cost $2,500 an ounce not too long ago and today it's down to $900!! Sucks if you invested in some that is!

I know someone who went through chemo only, and it was the worst thing she'd ever experienced. She came out the other side okay a long time ago - but the arc for her was down, down, down until she started on the up, up, up.
