79 ta with corvette springs and paint

Yeah I know it sounds kind of weird but I just bought a work in progress 79 that has a transverse leaf in the front and fiberglass leafs in the rear and is painted in 96 grand sport blue. This one is alot closer to being finished than my 81 so I hope to have this on finished some time next year. wish me luck.

This thing sat in a field for a year. And we found a black widow spider under the dash. That made diging around in the car a lot more interesting.

and know for the bad stuff. The previous owners wife started to part out the car. She had already sold both front fenders and the drivers side door. And when the car was in her dads garage something fell on the drivers quarter. He is a boby man and said he would help fix the dents and help paint the car. He really just wants to see it get finished.

The car did come with a bunch of extra parts which almost makes up for the missing ones.

The most recent issue of Pontiac Enthusiast has an article on installing corvette suspension like that.

Car looks good, makes me want to find time to work on mine.

LOL I had the same thing happen to me! Except mine was inside the wheel of all places.

      Good luck on the project!

Ahh Black widows.. Found one in my garage once or twice..
I am careful to look where I stick my hands

      Car looks great so far.

I thought about that transverse leaf set up for my old 70 Camaro.
I'll be interested to see what you think about it

That sucks that something fell on it and broke the bondo. But is probably a good thing.

Yeah the bondo is from the quarter being replaced before. The previous owner is a body man and said he would come to my garage and fix the quarter damage for a small fee of course. This was his first car and really wants to see it get back on the road. He's even going to help me get it painted when the body work is done.

Has anyone ever tried to use fenders from a 76 on a 79. I know the front end mounts are different but what about the contours. I have a set that have already been media blasted.

      Thanks

i do not think the 76 fenders will work with the 79 front bumper. you would have to use a 76 front bumper and hood. 77 or 78 fenders will work with the 79 bumper.

You can make them work, just have to massage the bumper mounts a little, and if your using spoilers you might have to move the mount tabs for the valance. It can be done though. The lines are all the same.

My 70 had 81 fenders on it when I got it. What a mess!!!

Finally something to update. It has a complete body. The fenders were free and are from a 76 so the front brackets had to modified to work. My motor and trans are mocked up and my new trans crossmember is made. The major dents are smooth enough for filler and I should be ordering my lizard skin kit next week.

Looks nice! One day I really want to do a Trans Am. I'm thinking of a total amalgamation, early (70-75) rear window, Fisher T-tops, early (70-72) front end, 74-75 rear bumper, silver with a black and red bird, and all set on C-4 Corvette suspension...

Yeah, like I need another project!

Where are you located? That car reminds me of a car that I knew about from around here in MD. Started but never finished from WAY back!
