      Different 600 steering box?

Looking to get a new style 670 box instead of rebuilding the 800 to 12:1. Is there a difference between 600 boxes? Are they all the same? They seem to range between $400 & $600...

The first two are assembly line built boxes. The last two are hand built, blueprinted boxes individually calibrated and dynoed. Like buying a crate motor or one built by Pat Musi. Mark SC&C

Thanks for the info Mark. Is there really a big difference in the feel from them? I would think they would be so close being the new 600 style. Plus it would be a better feel regardless comp to the 800 right?

Dave, How are your boxes built?

Is there really a big difference in feel? Well that depends if you get one of the better assembly line boxes or one of the worse ones. That`s a little bit of a crap shoot. The blueprinted boxes will ALWAYS be better but how much better will vary with the box you compare it too. Would my mother in law notice the difference? No,probably not. Would a professional driver on a race track? You bet he would! I guess by that comparison it depends if you think you`re more like a race car driver or my mother in law. Oh man... Mark SC&C

      Marcus,

Can you get the Jeep upper assembly for these boxes? They seem to help fit cars with big block and large headers by moving the hoses the opposite way.

Does Unisteer, AGR or Flaming River disassemble brand new Delphi boxes and completely rework all the internals?

From what I've seen they do not. They hand you a sloppy built mass produced 600 series box and call it golden. Tom Lee who builds all these boxes for ATS and SC&C has sent back pallets full of these brand new units because the internal tolerances were so bad he couldn't do anything to them.

When you get a Lee box they are every bit superior to their competition in every respect. You can tell the difference in feel between them and you know where your money went.

      Just to recap:

ATS/SC&C boxes built by Lee have the following done to a BRAND NEW box:
      Full disassembled
Hand mic every ball and replace as needed
      Re-valve box with R&P valving
      Zinc plate case
      Blueprinted internals to racing tolerances
      Dyno tested on bench
      Safety wire lid (ATS only)

None of the others brands do any of this to their boxes.

i got mine from mark and it was wired as well.

also, make sure you tell them what you need as far as steering stops. i should have known before i ordered, but now its going to cost me shipping to get it fixed if i decide to do it.

Correct thats why I run a Tom Lee Box.... Just trying to envok a "Ues the search function" responce....

Im On your side Tyler We have spoke about this before...

Please exsplain . Re-valve box with R&P valving.. Do they alter the servo some how? These boxes come stock with a rack and pinion style servo already what is done to them beyond that....

I would call the re-valve an increase in Lbs of pressure over stock 600 gear box. The feel is exceptional.

Mr Quick, I`m not sure I know what you mean. I don`t think I`ve ever seen a Jeep with a 670 box from the factory. All of mine have had 800 boxes. The 670 is already much smaller and the ports face straight up like the 800. Mark SC&C

Bottom line, if you buy any fast ratio new box it`ll feel much better than the original slow, worn out 40 year old box and you`ll probably be happy enough with it. But once you drive a car with a Lee 670 box you won`t be totally happy with anything less. The Lee 670 gear is one of the products we get the most follow up calls on to thanks us for recomending it. I love products like that! Mark SC&C

      Jeep box

sorry for the tread jack and thanks for the reply Marcus.

I thought these are the same. This is off of a 2004 Cherokee. The hose placement is perfect.

So how much horsepower does a Lee box put out?

Are the 600 series boxes available with a aluminum case?

I didn't think any came in an aluminum case. The AGR sells just an aluminum cover.
