Gas cap/ engine kill switch cover

I just reached the point with my gas cap cover/ kill switch cover and am looking for opinions and possible photoshop as to how to finish it off. I have plenty of my own ideas but I know I am missing something that it truly striking and appropriate to P/T. The center portion rotates and pushes to set and reset the kill switch so the design needs to be worked around that and a groove the width of a coin would be nice to have to be able to reset it more easily but it can be reset with a suction cup or by hand with a bit of finesse.

Here are a couple of pics.

It looks good to me except the face and sides need a slight bevel and a little rounding. The edges just look a little sharp.

      Jim,

Do you have a standard on/off kill switch on the back side? I am curious how it works. I have a standard Moroso kill switch behind mine with a solid aluminum piece machined so a stock type gas cap fits over it and turns the whole works. So when the SS letters are level, it is on, and if they are at a 45 degree angle, it is off. Not a real trick to operating, but not many would think it is there so it kind of works as a security device.

I'd use the mechanism from an EMO (emergency machine off) switch underneath.

      Neat idea Jim.

I have a Flaming River switch underneath and it works great. I have had it mounted for over a year and finally got a mill and access to a lathe to make the parts you see.

Here is another pic that tells the rest of the story. I can easily remove the center button to expose the Flaming River kill button.

So how much much do you think on the face is the right amount of bevel toward the sides? I noticed a Mustang cap today that was was about 1/2 inch to the outer area from the center. Is that about what you are thinking or maybe less?

Right now it is like a blank piece of paper and I have so many ideas as to what to do. It can be shaped ,painted, anodized, edm'd, lasered, cnc'd or what ever it takes to get the final look.

I keep liking the idea of some bowtie or crossflags in the center with Chevrolet on the outer top and Pro-Touring on the bottom part of the outer ring. Having the outside polished and the outer ring black to the center with the names or the whole outer ring polished with the names in black. I am looking for ideas and a possible photoshop for it. It is pretty easy to make and works very well at the stage it is in, now it's just the cosmetics.

You have exactly what was the strarting idea I had about 3 yrs ago. I had it all setup and then Flaming River came out with their new style kill switch and i just couldn't resist doing it.

You could easily convert over and then the center SS would always be level whether it was on or off.

Thanks True for the compliment. I had run that idea by before Flaming River made their switch, the problem is finding an e stop that carries the current and the size of cable from the battery. I thought about going the relay route in doing it as that is how e stops are wired and it will work but gets you into other wiring situations that just make it not approved by the racing sanctions that are usually applied but an e stop can be made to work.

I think maybe an 1/8 or so bevel and rounding to start would be plenty. Maybe less of the outer diameter.
