      spal fan controler

I'm in the process of wiring my car and need to add a power wire for the controller. I haven't bought the controler yet, my question is what gauge of wire do I need for power?

I think the controller comes with some wire for the install - I know the SPAL fans come with TONS of extra wire in their harness kits.

I wasn't critisizing! Any help is always much appreciated. I want to beef up my cooling system. Am currently using a Griffin radiator, Stewart pump and Spal 16" fan. Doesn't overheat but it's reaching it's limit with my new motor. I'll call as you suggested. Thanks!

I think SPAL is selling the "version II" fan controller now... i wonder if it will have fewer problems than were reported with the "version I"

I have not had any problems with the Spal units to date, the one thing I wonder about with the version II is the over-current protection circuit. It's not an issue with brand new fans, but if you were to use a used fan that may pull way more current than when it was new, it could trigger the protection circuit and shut the fan down. Unless you had an amp probe, how would you know it's the fan causing the problem and not the controller? With controllers trying to get funky, I'm about to go back to designing multiple relay kits for high powered fans.
