      Carb Problem..

Got my car done today and took it for a little blast around the block... Did a little cooker and then it cut out on me. Let it sit for a couple mins, then had to mat it and keep it there for it to start. After i couldn't let it idle for a while because it would just cut out again..

I had this same carb on my 350 (on a 305 now) and it did the same thing so I'm guessing it's a carb thing.

I'm having the same problem with the Rochester carb on my 455. Yesterday it stalled backing down the driveway. I found it leaking gas out the top of the carb by the plunger for the accelerator pump.

      Power valve blown out?

Actually, if it starts, runs and then you mash on it, it dies and then works after a lot of cranking, check the float level. If the bowls aren't getting enought fuel and you're draining them, that can be the issue.

I went through all kinds of issues not to long ago. Turned out to be a few problems. Cracked fuel line, fileter up side down (can style) and a weak electric pump. On this adventure I found a CD put out by Holley that give tons of info on how to tune or rebuild your carb. It was money well spen and I learned a ton!! I highly recommend it. Also CHP put out a really good article this month that covers Carb problems. It's a good read, you should check it out.

      Good luck!

I've done a lot it's gotten better.. checked the float level and it was a bit lower than it should have been... i've added a regulator as well, put it at about 5 psi, next to do is check the valve.. I can't remember what's in there.. and my vacum is a lot lower with this motor.. and I think i'm back to tunning it again.... doesn't really like to cruise... stumbles and pops when you get on the gas a little bit... so i added some more timing and tweaked the carb some...

let's hope it gets better.. i got a new pair of tires to bake off........
