      Battery Drain

      Hello,
I have a 68 Camaro with a CS130 alt. The battery as of late has been draining. I am not the sharpest on testing for shorts etc, can someone give a some advice on were to start. I do have a multimeter and a test light.

      Thanks a bunch,
      John

First thing is to place the multimeter between the ground cable and post. Ensure the key is off and start puling fuses one by one until you see a drop in voltage. You will find the circuit then. Once the circuit is tracked down you can begin searching for the item which is draining it constantly.

Bingo but you want to do it with current. Hooking up your Voltmeter between the positive post and cable and have your meter on the amp symbol. Then it will actually show the amp draw and you can unplug fuses, connectors etc. until you find your parasitic drain. Most meters are fused to 10 amps.

Correct. Amps is good but sometimes slow drains are better measured in volts. I have seen 3 volt shorts with milliamp draws. Some multimeters can't handle that precision so I normally suggest volts.
