      Volt video

For those interested in the Volt concept, here's a short one from GM. Cool looking little car.

It would be a great commuter car. Hopefully it can go faster than what it's doing in the video.

Might be cool for me living 12 miles from work.

Even for those like me who had a 40 mile one way commute and will probably be even longer in the near future here, can still take advantage of this. The on board generator can keep it going after the initial charge is drained. I had always wondered why you couldn't take a generator and hook it to an electric car and just keep on going. Guess GM finally is getting it out there. I think it is great.

Even if your one way commute is more than 20 miles there may be some incentives for employers to provide an outlet to charge while you're at work. If they don't price it through the roof I would be in line to buy one. Right now I won't even entertain the idea of buying a hybrid because of price. So far the Volt is the only one I am interested in. Just my 2c.

I wonder what the battery life is? How much $$$ to replace the lithium ion batteries? Can the volt run on ethanol? Where can I find answers to these questions?

They are considering alt fuels for the generator and they expect the batteries to last 10 years/150,000 miles.

All taken from the video. Also mentioned in other stuff I've read. Look on Jalopnik for some other info.
