      Holley Commander 950

Anyone using Commander 950..... Any comments, is it a good sytem. Have been into LINK and Microtech but will consider this one also.

Need some info. Is it possible to run waste spark or 8 coils. Does it have the MAP sensor in the ECM or on the intake.

      I'm having a CSB with a modified -94 LT1 intake.

Many more questions to come, who is the best dealer to buy from and customer support and price.

      Olav,
I run the HSR in my 68 Camaro in CP class autocross SCCA. The car is street legal pro-touring as well though it's a little more racer than pro-touring at the moment as i don't have tunes or an AC at this point.

I ran the Holley Stealth Ram because i did the research and think it's the best fuel injection plenum and intake out there. There are many examples of Holley Stealth Ram small blocks around 420-440 HP for 355s and close to 600 HP if you're running a 383. The Commander 950 ECU works well and the wiring harness uses 100% factory TPI sensors so they are cheap, plentiful and easy to find. You can run speed density and it's compatible with wide band O2 sensors as well. The map sensor is in the upper plenum. It has a few other trick features like you can run a factory knock sensor and i found it's pretty easy to tune for a smooth idle. I personally like running the factory computer-controlled distributor.

About the only thing you can knock is it's batch fire technology rather than sequential fire which is what the OEMs and a few of the other aftermarket EFI systems now run. If you must have sequential fire i would still go with the HSR intake and plenum and run it with a different ECU. Tuning is a peice of cake because they have a lot of base maps to choose from and there'll probably be one you can run out of the box.

The EFI forum at www.chevytalk.com has a fella Doug who works for Holley and is super helpful. Additionally there is a web page www.stealthram.com with a forum that isn't very heavily used but has some good information. You can also read my entire build story on my website www.sccacamaro.com. I go through everything i had to do to install the stealth ram in my 68 Camaro.

As fare as where to get it, just go for the cheapest price. All of the support is supplied by Holley, not your reseller anyway. I waited and purchased just about everything i needed on eBay and saved over a thousand dollars but of course my kit was missing this or that here and there...so it took longer to get together properly. Just depends on how you want to spend your time.

Let me know if you have any other questions and Good Luck!
