      Oil pressure port question....

I had to move my oil pressure sending unit from down near the filter up to the port at the back of the block behind the intake. Correct me if I am wrong, but the pressure should be the same at both places, right?

The reason I ask is because I changed to a high volume pump & if I remember correctly I changed the oil pressure sending unit because the old one got broke, now when I start the motor the gauge is pegged as far as it will go, past 60psi. I think something is wrong. What do you think?

pressure should read the same either place. What kind of gauge do you have, mechanical or electric?

i had the same problem at one point when i ordered the sender by what the engine was. when i went to an 87 monte sensor it worked right (but i did have to clearence the intake to get it to fit).

I bought the sender for the year of car, not motor.

guess i'm the only idiot then huh? damn!
i'd buy/borrow an oil pressure gauge and test the top port (maybe the side port too). if they don't agree, warranty the sender.
