      Yellow...

I have had a yellow top in my 69' Firebird since May 05' It's deep cycling, never goes dead and starts my 10.5.1 dynamic compression 406 Pontiac engine with ultimate ease...
It also runs the electric fans, heater, lights,Amplified stereo system, and MSD ignition system with nary a wimper...

I am also running a 106 amp powermaster 1 wire chrome alternator.

      Yellow for me as well.
I've got MSD, twin electric fans, stereo, etc and even when it sits over the long winter here in the Midwest, she always fires without hestitation.

I have had issues with the yellow. A lot of the local parts stores have commented on the higher returns on the yellow optima's.

Wonder if it was just a bad batch.

I've actually heard the same about the red too, so it may be a crap shoot either way. I can remember years ago going through 3 Sears Diehard batteries in a row...had to be a bad batch.
I think you'll be just fine with the red or the yellow.

red or yellow? I have had the yellow in my car for 7 years with no issues. I think it depends on how offen you drive the car and if you plan to have onboard battery charger installed to maintain a good charge on the battery. If you maintain a good charge on the battery save your money and go for the red. If not then go for the yellow for it's ability to come back from the dead better.
