      US Top Gear!

      Hello all,
      Did you hear
      http://jalopnik.com/5016771/top-gear...-coming-to-nbc

I feel they will kill the show. Carolla is NOT funny, Foust can drive, and stromer is a wood worker...what the hell? I will set my expectations very low for the show. NBC could do one hell of a job with different host. Does anyone know where they will be shooting?

Should be interesting. I'm not sure about Carolla as a host though. Guess we'll see.

A guy on another board I'm on recently finished filming an episode with them using his car. He was very sceptical but had nothing but good things to say about it after they finished.

We can only wait and see I guess.

Any news on when they expect to air the episodes? Sounds like a good show...

this version will be unwatchable............if the 3 Brits (Jeremy Clarkson & company) are not on it, forget it. I saw Carolla on an episode of Test Drive on SPEED, it was horrible. What a shame, well....at least I still have the BBC version to watch..........even my wife watches it....good bonus time!!

We've got the same issue here in Aus, three local guys to do a local version of the show. We'll see later in the year if it is any good.

Still Clarkson, the Hamster and Capt'n Slow are the best presenters. As above my wife loves the show as well (the BBC version that is).

I dunno, I like Corolla, kinda funny in a smart arss kind of way. The last test drive show with him was not as good as the first one IMO. But the original one will be hard to beat too, heck they get comparasions to freaking' millitary jets!

      It will fail.

It works in England (ie Europe) because they aren't as sue happy over there and the courts don't put up with it.

It's why we could never had a N-Ring here.

First time some celeb or person is hurt in a stunt there will be a huge lawsuit.

I like Corolla, so it might be funny.. hope they don't kill it.

Remember in the Top Gear UK where they chased the Range Rover with the Main Battle Tank?

You think they could do that here???

Carolla was okay on the man show...Kimmel was funny. To me, Carolla is not a car guy. I think the show will be awkward with him on it. I hope they do not try and copy the humor of Top Gear UK.

The best thing about Top Gear is the chemistry Clarkson/Hammond/May have together, and especially Clarksons wit/humor. The U.S. version will royally suck donkey balls.

Like Jeremy driving the small car, hilarious, especially driving inside the office

yeah, they do races across Europe, and lots of dangerous stunts. It'll never fly here, sadly. Unless they resolve to break all the laws and rules. If that happens it'll be watchable. I'm worried that the US top gear will be little more than glorified commercials, paid for by whatever corporation shells out the money.

Yeah, just like the Sat/Sun car shows with a few minutes of beginer tech and 20+ minutes of "product showcase" (aka: commercials in between the real commercials).

"dangerous stunts", yep, I couldn't believe when they did there rocket/shuttle test, granted it was remote controlled but it could have taken out a house easily! Try that one here...

Top Gear is the main reason I keep my digital cable... good stuff, I loved it when the z06 beats up on the $200k+ supercars. I can't wait to see them get hold of a new zr1 and flog it.

Actually, it will prolly be more like WWE or Nascar pre race BS. Can't we just have some "normal" sporting "entertainment"?

Corolla on Top gear is almost,..I say almost as bad as when they put Dennis Miller on ABC's Monday Night Football. Arrrgghhh I wanted to just choke him.

When I came in from the garage last night I find my wife laughing while watching Top Gear. I have to say the British humor is the point of the show. The stunts and contests are absolutely hilarious. My favorite so far was filling up the inside of the car with water to see how long it would hold it. The guys had to wear wetsuits, goggles and snorkel gear while driving the car around the track.

Exactly, like I said above the chemistry the 3 have is what makes the show....I don't know anybody/actor/group together here in the U.S. that could pull of that same interaction with cars, it won't have that same smart wit and charm. I mean look at the video I have above of Jeremy driving around in that little car LOL.

How about the time they were racing a shed, a boat, a couch and something else on a track, or the time they had a demolition derby with full size remote control cars?
