Enjoy James,
It is an antique MotorHead's Mecca. I went seven years ago and I was amazed at the number of Flatheads, Stovebolts, and Straight Eights were running there. You'll love it. Also beware of the sun reflecting off the salt, and apply sun screen accordingly. Wish I could go again.

08-10-2008 #3There are very few things that I have not become at least aquainted with over the past 30 years in hotrodding, but I have never been to the Salt. This year the planets have aligned. We aquired a new motorhome a couple of months ago, we have 2 more events on the west coast with complimentary schedules, and I have 3 friends/employees who are available and most eager to go along. We are leaving on Friday the 15th and should be in Wendover on Sunday afternoon. I am driving my 66 Chevelle from Indiana to Wendover and then on to the Pleasanton Goodguys show, and then on to the Super Chevy Suspension Challenge in El Toro. I haven't been completely across the country in a hotrod since I took my blown injected 70 Pro Street Mustang on the Hotrod Power Tour in 97 from LA to Detroit. Yes, I am chasing it with the motorhome and a trailer, but the realities of finding motel rooms, running a business, getting a hotrod to an important magazine shootout on time and intact, and plain old lazyness have dictated the chase vehicle.
At any rate, it should be a great week. We have at least 3 customers running our air suspension there...George Poteets Barracuda [that Troy Trepanier built] is sporting a new R5 Dodge NASCAR engine with a 113mm turbo. Bob Johnsons Cadillac [that Alan Johnson has prepared] will be there with ShockWaves on the rear adn AirStruts on the front. In addition I think Ron Main's streamliner and Keith Turk's Camaro should be running as well.
I am actually looking forward to the drive and most certainly the racing. If you all see a fat guy in a blue Chevelle with a big grin and a beam and coke...stop and say hi. Even if its not me I'm sure he'll be friendly!
