      Engine noise WTF????

Where is this HIGH screeching noise coming from in my car?
(70 chevelle 350) It starts every time It cranks up and it goes away about 10 mins in the ride. Could it be the power steering belt? just change the Alt belt, I probally should've changed both of them. I thinking its the power steering area.

      Thanks for any replies

My guess is the alternator belt. The PS best really shouldn't squeal unless you are turning the wheels.

My Camaro was doing the exact same thing - I tightened the alternator and it went away.

Unless you have a bearing going out......

I just went through the same ordeal. Thought it was for sure and engine accesory (changed almost everything up front) but it ended up being the pilot bearing in my T56.

Well yeah, it's kind of annoying when you spend all this time and money chasing a problem only to find out it's still there.
