      Renderings '66 Hemi Belvedere II

I am restoring / restomoding a '66 Belvedere II original Hemi car. I am just at the very beginning of the project and decided to get some renderings done to hopefully help keep me from spending money on too many mistakes and to serve as motivation to see the project through to the end.

The car was originally EE1 dark blue metallic. I like the color and am going to keep it that way. It also is came originally with both Bel II side trim and Satellite side trim. I am not that concerned with keeping it entirely original. I don't want to deviate wildly by tubbing it or anything but I don't want to worry about finding date coded spark plug wires either. I am doing this car for me and my Dad and I don't plan to ever sell it. I am just building it to enjoy driving, cruising, racing, and just staring at it.

I realize this is a Pro-touring site, not a restoration site. I really like the idea of pro-touring and the look of most cars done in this style. I don't want to cut up this car though. I want to be able to change the wheels and slap on bias ply tires and compete in the F.A.S.T. (factory appearing stock tire) drag racing series

Please let me know what you think of the following renderings. Which trim combination? Which wheels? Ride height front and back? Emblems or no emblems? Other wheel ideas, etc.

      Apex

      Legacy

      Billet Magnum 500

      Torq Thrust II

      Vintec

      Thank you for your input!
      David

      welcome to the site David.

I've always had a soft spot for the Belvedere like in your renderings. I've even kept my eye out for a good buy and looked at one recently.

Given the drawings above, for me it's a no-brainer. Keep all the trim and use the Apex rims in the first pic. The cast treatment look is a nice period look and looks great on the car, and on those rims.
It's something I've been wanting to do to newer rims myself!

Nice car! I like the apex but its not what i would choose. I like the legacy, but i think it would look better in a magneseum finish without the knockoff(IMHO).

With all that mid-sixties chrome, I think there would be less competetion with the Apex wheels.

I think the Apex looks the best, primarily because of the dark centers... my opinion might change if the others matched. Whatever you choose, a dar wheel center looks fantastic.

      great looking project

use the Apex or the Magnum 500. You can just delete the other ones now.

I vote for Magnums and since your staying stock appearing it seems fitting.

I vote the Apex also. They just seem to blend perfect with the car.

Might I also suggest a powered Antenna (Dakota Digital) and a chrome cap for the old Antenna? (so its reversable).

You guys must have never seen a Legacy in person because it is perfect for a stock bodied mid 60s car with all that chrome. Apex for a smooth and shaved Camaro but Legacys on that car all day!

I agree. They look similar to the old halibrand wheels

Anytime I have seen original 14" or 15" Magnum 500 wheels on these cars, I have always thought they looked a lot like Cragar Keystone Klassic wheels except I always thought the Keystones looked better. Am I crazy? Why is it that someone makes billet Magnums in just about any width and diameter a person could want but no one makes a billet version of the Keystone?

While I wold not ever buy a set of 17 or 18" Keystone it would be nice to see them on the market. If I were in charge of my Dad's 69 Road Runner project (he's hell bent on 15") I would do some 15x10 Keystones.
To me they look good in that aspect..... Pro-touring? No.

Matter of fact, I think I'll buy him some for Christmas.

My thoughts exactly. The Apex was my vote, mainly because of the dark centers but they really aren't my favorite style.I did like the billet Magnum wheel however for the vintage period look.

Have you considered something like this...?I personally think they would look screaming on your car:
