You pulling just the engine or the engine and trans together?

If you are doing just the engine, you'll need to separate the engine/trans. There are bolts that hold the block to the bellhousing, then bolts that hold the torque converter to the flexplate (automatic). Be sure to support the transmission well so it doesn't hit the ground when you pull the engine.

If doing the engine/trans combo, then just remove the driveshaft and get the motor mount bolts and trans mount bolts out.

Of course with both procedures you'll need to disconnect various wires/vacuum lines/coolant hoses.

the engine isn't exactly getting pulled, we're pretty much just lifting it enough to get the oil pan out. So to double check we need to take off the tranny crossmember, motor mounts, and the driveshaft correct? anything else i need to be aware of?

if you have steel fuel lines you may need to disconnect them to prevent bending/kinking them. same with steel transmission cooler lines to the radiator.
you may have to pull the distributor to keep from pushing it into the firewall.
work in progress--for the next 10 years.

      tranny cross member

As mentioned the tranny coolant lines & the distributer need be removed, the distributer cap at a minium. The crossmember & driveshaft can stay in. Check the trans mount and if its tight when jacking the motor then remove the bolts ( trans to crossmember ) leaving the crossmember to the frame alone.

Thanks a lot guys for all your help we ended up getting the engine back in at 4:22 a.m. on wednesday morning. All my bro has left to do it put the driveshaft, headers and exhaust, and the top end back on. After that it'll be back to life.
