Classic Car Multi-Media Service
Recently I've begun to toy with the idea of creating a full service multi-media bundle aimed at the classic, and modified car markets.
Either for personal use, or more specifically use in selling a vehicle.
The purpose of this thread is to see how much interest there would be in such a service.
However, because I am not a supporting vendor, I can not respond to pricing questions at this point per TonyL. I would ask that you please respect the site in this instance.
What you would end up with is a full mutli-media bundle. This would include, high quality professional photographs, of which you would receive the high-res files as well as web-ready files. We would story board, and capture a video montage of the car, and with it would come engine/exhaust sound bytes.
Attention would be payed to copyright laws, so that use of the material for personal, or selling purposes would not infringe on the product delivered.
I would of course offer a couple different styles of packages, or a build to suit style package. Whatever the needs are.
Please vote above on whether you as an auto enthusiast would be interested in having such a service available.
Thanks guys.

06-25-2008 #2This is not a bad idea really.
I think that you would have more potential marketing towards someone who sells several cars a year, or a true dealer though.
If you could add in the effort to then market the car as well, say to specific sites or regional Auto Sales mags, well,..then you'd have a whole package.

The idea is good, but it will not be easy to break into the segment.
Don't mean to bust your bubble but you need to do your homework and lots of it.
Many companies have this technology built and ready for use. Lot's of patented technology already. Adoption rate in very low at the commercial level (dealers) and private sector. You can easily determine that looking at all of the commercial auto advertising websites.
Significant pitfalls abound:
Very few sites will host multimedia presentations (their system's back-end technology won't accept it and upgrading costs are huge.
Too many multimedia formats available.
Quality multimedia files are HUGE (storage space isn't available and adding it is costly), and lastly
The need to control content. No commercial auto advertising company could afford to accept media files that could contain copyright infringements (where did you get that background music?), or worse (porn files?) so they have to close the funnel of entry to a few trusted sources.
Don't give up on a good idea, just figure out how to modify it to fill a niche that will make (you) money.

Thanks guys, keep the advise coming.
On the backing music deal, I'm a music major, so for the most part I would be creating original works as the score. This is the easiest way to get around the copyright infringement issue.
Though, it would also be possible to obtain rights for use of commercially available songs as well.Jason Mounce
