      I just cannot believe it!

I remember seeing him at Gainseville almost 20 years ago, Around 1990 I think, my brother, my dad and me all there. Scott and Connie in the finals. My dad pulling for the old man, My brother and I pulling for Scott. Scott won the race! A memory I will never forget. The 3 of us talked about just how cool it must be to top fuel race accross the country father and son! Man they had some good times, but I can only imagine Connie is a wreck right now!

      RIP Scotty!

      shocking...

Hard to believe... the Kalitta Motorsports shop is right across the street from my plant and I have a bunch of my crew, particularly the maintenance guys that spend time over there. The Kalittas have always been first class, and I can only send my condolences/prayers.

R.I.P. Scott.....Very sad day I saw the tape of the crash it was extremely violent the motor blew going through the lights at over 300 and the car never really slowed, he went off the track and the car disintegrated at the retaining wall. I met him once at the mile high nationals he was kind enough to get a signature from his dad (who is hard to get a signature from) for a friend of mine's magnesium 427 sohc valve cover that has the signatures of most of the racers that raced the sohc motors.

Godspeed Scott. No way to measure how much the Kalitta family has meant to drag racing.
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

I watched the finals yesterday, and they showed the shutdown area of the track.......it made me sick.....there is an extremly small sand trap to slow the car, a catchnet, and then a freaking concrete WALL!!!!!!!! this is a safety area??

I listened to Tony Pedregon talking about this very same thing, expressing the concern of many drivers, as the cars are increasing in speed 300+mph..........some tracks do nothing to accomodate the need for a larger safety area at the end of the track. It would be sad to know that Scott died unnecessarily......never the less, he will be missed by his fans and freinds & family.

RIP Scott...and my prayers for the Kalitta family.

I remember a quote from a magazine from Connie (Scotts father) about his relatively quiet nature and the respect he gets/gives to/from others and he had this to say...
      "Im big on respect.
Sometimes its the only thing that matters.
It is by our words which we
comunicate, so its by our words we are
      judged."

      Tragic day, no doubt.

I only know e-town, but i suspect many tracks may have a similar issue - they can't make it any longer. If a lot of tracks have the real estate issues e-town has, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe they need to slow the cars down or run shorter races for the big cars. Jet cars don't run 1320 for some reason. If e-town lost NHRA it would close in 10 minutes.
