      2008 Eyes On Design pics....

I have some pics I want to share from the Eyes On Design show today. I want to thank Bill and Melinda Howell for the tickets that my Dad and I used; it was very generous of them. I didn’t take many pictures but the ones I really want you guys to pay special attention to are the close up shots and partial car shots. I really felt the Surface Designer in me come out when I was looking at some of these spectacular examples of early automotive history. I marvel at the fact that some of these beautiful and sophisticated surfaces were designed and manufactured without the use of our highly advanced CAD systems that we use today. Back in the day, surface construction sections were manually scribed onto giant aluminum templates by draftsmen with gold chisel-point pencils and many sweeps and curves. It was monotonous and back-breaking work. Take a good long look at the features of these body panels, the giant winged quarters, and the broad fascia and bumpers and ornate hood figurines…you will never see cars like this again from the Big Three or any other car manufacturer. These amazing vehicles represent the greatest generation of American car manufacturing.

Great pictures Tony. I did not get any yesterday, the weather turned bad about the time I was going to walk around and get my shots. Thanks for the hospitality and the tour Saturday. I really enjoyed the weekend and we got home last night about 12:15am so I was able to sleep in my bed last night. I encourage everyone to make this show sometime, really a great mix of cars.

Great to see everyone else too, Charley, Chris, Jeff, Jeff, Mike!

Bill it was the least I could do after the hospitality you showed me last year. Next time you come up I will get you into that Heritage Center. Promise.

I was in the same boat. I was just getting ready to get my camera and get some pics before the weather. Oh well, at least it was nice before that. It was nice meeting you, glad you made it home safe. Thanks again Tony for the pics, you da man!
