Budnik Delay

Anyone esle having a delay with Budnik wheels? Ordered early March..

Mine were ordered Apr 14th 08. They were supposed to be here June 13th. But, I still haven't heard from the tire shop. Hope I hear from them today. If I haven't heard by noon. I am going to stop by on my lunch. I am curious. Which one did you order? I got the Cobalts

I just got a email back from Budnik. My rims are still in California.
"The wheels are in polish, I will find out when we can have them shipped out. I will get back to you soon as I hear from the shop foreman." So much for hoping my rims will be here today. I guess I will be waiting 9+ weeks for mine.

true...that's why it amazes me that Jason Rushforth and Jon Henson @ www.driverzinc.com can build theirs in 3 weeks and have them to your doorstep in 4 weeks...regardless of finish.

Yup, this is true of EVERY order to date with the exception of only ONE order. We stopped the wheels before they shipped because the clear coat (which was added to the order half way through) had a few imperfections in it, and we are stripping the clear and re finishing the wheels. We feel it was the right thing to do. Otherwise every order has been delivered in about 4 weeks.

Bring it on guys, we promise to make it our goal to deliver a superior, better designed product in less time! Besides, lets get some designs on your cars that are from this decade...

a customer of us has damaged a 22" budnik groove last year...and we ordered a new wheel (JUST ONE) at november 2007!!!! and we wait still now....
it's a shame, for one wheel to wait 7 MONTH!!!! and we don't say, how much we must wait yet...

i think, the europe-customer are for budnik not so important...

thats because they are relatively new company.. and not absolutely SLAMMED like some are.. BUT.. not all of them are slammed.. they just have a hard time working hard. hahah

I'm experiencing a rather lengthy delay from Budnik also. Ordered mine(18" and 19" Shotguns) from Jim(who happens to be a nice guy who I don't mind chatting with) on March 28 at the Del Mar car show and was given the standard '8 weeks' ETA. Eight weeks later, I called to get a status inquiry and they didn't return my call. So I called again and was told they hadn't even gotten my rim size(19") in yet due to a problem with their supplier. Even worse, they told me my order never actually got 'entered into their system' until April 9th, a full 12 days after I handed them my down payment. That kinda stuff is irritating and shows a lack of professionalism on their part. I can understand pointing the finger at suppliers, but the finger can't be pointed in that case. Anyways, Jim told me to call back in a few days for an accurate update. Called back 2 days later on June 11th and was told by Jim that they had indeed gotten the 19" rims in so it would now be 7 to 9 days to build the rims. He told me they would call me when they were finished. Well, it's been 9 days and I haven't heard from them, so I called this morning and had to leave a message. Haven't heard back from them yet today. It's now been a total of 12 weeks since I gave them my down payment, so let's see if they bother to call back and what they have to say. Hopefully it'll be some good news. Trust me, I don't like 'bashing vendors' and Jim seems like a decent guy, but I'm just not appreciating what I'm seeing from this company. Another guy who I spoke with(Jack Hodson - Hot Rod Magazine 2007 Home Build of the Year - 67 Camaro Pro Touring) ordered the same set I did and told me I should expect delays from this company. I guess it's a common problem, but 12 weeks is getting to be a bit much. Gorgeous rims, but expect delays if you order.

....On a brighter note, about 2 years ago I ordered a custom set of billet 18" Bonspeed Deltas with Nitto's from Newstalgia Wheels(online) and they arrived right on time(6 or 8 weeks, can't remember) and the customer service was spot on. Of course, that was 2 years ago, but I at least wanted to pass along something positive since my note about Budnik was rather negative.

Its not just Budnik that have the delays. The problem is the Hoop Mfg. have moved and or are retooling. And has caused delays with most all wheel companies that are doing a large volume. I agree the wait is aggravating. A 10-12 week wait from most all custom wheel mfg. is an average right now.

Don't blame you for being PO'd man...the total lack of at least the courtesy of communication would gall me to no end.
If you F-uped,at least man-up and admit your mistakes,but I guess once they have your deposit,they got you by the short hairs...

I understand that Budnik might be having an issues with the hoop mfg, but that has been their excuse for the last two years. When I first started my project a couple years back I was going to order a set of Budniks until I heard how bad they lagged. Just cancel your orders, call your credit card company, and dispute the charges on the deposit you put down. Maybe once they see that people wont put up with the BS they will step up and fix the problems.

Yes, Jim at Budnik mentioned the problem about the supplier moving and causing a backlog in hoops. That kinda stuff I can understand and I don't have a problem with it and I even mentioned that to him. What I'm not real happy about right now is the way they delayed entering my order into their system by a full 11 days. Even he admitted that was not cool. Also, as I mentioned, several times I have called for a status check and either had to leave a message or talked to someone other than Jim and my phone call simply wasn't returned. Maybe they're just getting hammered over there because of the backlog. Regardless, I've just seen a few disappointing things other than the delay caused be the supplier that I did not see dealing with another wheel vendor. It's good to read others comments in this thread and understand that I'm not the only one waiting and frustrated.

I waited 13 weeks for my Budniks a year or so ago and we are a dealer. Wasnt a big deal as they were by far the best deal for the money out there at that time. I also just got a set of 15x6 ralley wheels from Coker that actually came from Wheel Vintique and they took 8 weeks. I think we can all agree that chevy ralley wheels are not custom or exotic so you just never know what the delay is. I like to give the mfg's the benefit of the doubt and be as patient as I can. When I think of the homeless people I pass everday on the street and Armed Forces being killed in the middle east, waiting on my wheels or other parts does not seem like that big of a deal to me personally.
