      Aftermarket Radiator Support?

      Hey Guys,

I think I'm not crazy...I thought I saw a magazine or website recently that had an aftermarket radiator support for a first gen Camaro. Can anyone help me with info on it?

      Thanks,

Hmmm - core support only, too. Wonder what the weight is vs stock?

I have one on the way for Track Rat.. I will post pictures when it gets here in a couple of days.

In person it's quite impressive. Very nicely done and very strong looking. Also, the radiator is HUGE and they offer some nice options.

I bet it's heavier than stock, but much stonger and stiffer. More info in a few days.

Can just the radiator be removed for repair work?

Yes, it's seperate from the core support. I'll get pics us this weekend since mine arrives on Friday.

So with that modular approach, there's a nice migration path. My current radiator is fine but future paths may dictate an upgrade.

That doesn't look nearly as well constructed as the other one I saw. Looks like hollow square tubing. This one is soild bar stock and the ends are shaped right.

Hard to expain. It's supposed to be here tomorrow.. I will give a full report, with pics, then.

Came today, here are some pictures...

The kit, the panels are to close off the area between the core support and the front panel. There's an overflow tank and fans. Fans are 12 and 14 inch. The radiator is pretty darn big. I had them set it up for an LS engine so I guess I'm commited. lol

I forgot to have them put in a bung for a temp sender, my fault.

I also had it set for eventual Air Conditioning since I like how they did the mounting tab.

The core support is made of solid bar stock. It must be stronger and more rigid than the factory one. Once I take it apart I will weigh it compared to a stocker. The total weight for the big box and all the stuff was 85 pounds.

      Their website says yes:

Other options include polishing, and we just added black anodizing. The anodizing has brought a lot of interest.

Wow! If it was 85LBS I am pretty sure it will be heavier. They do look killer no doubt.

To be fair the box must be 10 lbs of that and the radiator is huge. I will need to weigh the core support by itself compared to the stocker.

I don't mind if it's a bit heavier since it's going to be way more rigid (ie, stronger) than the stock one.
