Steering Box Leaking - What To Do?

I noticed my steering box is leaking on my 67 Camaro. What do you guys usually do when this happens? I could always buy a new box but they are $380. Is there a rebuild kit or new seals I can slap in?

      Thoughts or suggestions?

There are rebuild kits on the market for steering gear boxes. I would check with my nearest NAPA or similar parts store that has the old parts books and knows how to use them. It would probably be a waste of time to go to one of the newer computer driven parts houses for this one. Another option is to get a seal kit by itself without rebuilding the box. If your box has seen a rebuild recently this might be the way to go. You can get a seal kit from http://www.prosteering.com for under $16. Pro Steering also has rebuilt boxes available at a better price than what you listed in your post.

You can also send your box out to have it rebuilt by someone to either custom or stock specification. I'll throw in some contact info if you want to go that route.

That is real good information you provided man! Thanks! Looks like prosteering offers quick ratio boxes for $259 which is a lot cheaper than what I was looking at.

My steering is kinda sloppy and isn't real tight. I might just go with a rebuilt box from prosteering. Hopefully it will tighten things up.

      Thanks again man!
