      poly bushing install

Bought my new tubular upper control arms a while back along with new energy poly bushings. Could someone tell me the best way to lube these suckers and put them in!!!!

I usually dis assemble the bushing then install the metal shell in the arm with a vice or press. You can use a series of sockets and a hammer. Install the urethane then lube the hole good. Energy suspension bushings have a lube channel to retain most of it.Then lube the steel shaft then press it in the same way.

      !!just re read uppers!!

I made an install tube out of a section of 1 5/8" roll bar tubing with a slot cut out the side of it. The slot will fit the cross shaft. Really helps keep the arm from flexing when putting the shaft and bushings in.

Install your shells with the poly popped out. Then slide your cross shaft in. Now push your poly in then the inner sleeves. You might need to install the outer shells and cross shaft at the same time.

      Thanks for the info MrQuick!
So we disassembled the bushing and used the vice to press the shell in. We then reinstalled the urethane and the sleve and it is all lubed up.
I tried to see if the cross shaft would fit through the shell but it will not. With the cross shaft in we cannot use the vice to press the other bushing in! How did you press the other side in???

      We got them both in!
We took and put the cross shaft in and sat the shell in place and laid a big washer on top. Then i had some of my old bike pegs from when i was little and sat the open end on top of the washer and hit the solid in with a hammer and knocked it in! now we just have to bolt up the new ball joint and do the other upper and the 2 stock lowers.
