      need help

      79 trans am subframe cannot find any info on how to square up on body

      There are two holes in the frame mounts that will line up with corrosponding holes in the body.I think its 5/8" rod that fits.I would also measure from the frame mounts to the front of the frame in a cross fashion.As in end of tape to your left,to the outside right of the frame.

      chris your post was replied to in the emergency room forum with two very good links. Did that not help you?

      The two alignment holes are indeed 5/8". I found my 1/2" ratchet extensions to be close enough to 5/8" to work.

      yup, those guys are spot on.

      I did mine slightly different though and measured diagonally from front subframe point to a rear frame rail, using plumb-bobs at each end. (basically a giant 'X' measurement.

      The body mound plates at the firewall get you very close as stated.
