      An import guy?

Hi everyone. I admit it, I'm an import guy. I love anything with wheels (cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc). The current project is a 1993 Honda del Sol. Turbo charged 1.6l running about 300whp. It was always meant to be a road course car, but after a few trips down the strip I realized I needed to cage it.
Getting back to the road course, I just finished fabbing new side skirts, a rear diffuser (the car looks silly with a spoiler on it), and a front belly pan. Eventually, it will have a full belly pan.

Hopefully you guys can accept an import guy with a 2000lb car that can run 12's on a bad day, who is in love with most of the projects I've seen on here.

I attached a photo from an auto-x event last year, but I need to resize others before uploading... I'll see what I can get posted up in the next day or two.

For a little background, I've done the whole auto-x and road course thing for years. Tons of fab work. One of the more recent work that might interest some of you was a full dual exhaust for a 2000? Camaro SS. Talk about a pain getting it over the axle on the driver's side!

Anyway, I hope to stick around here for a while!
      -James

We go by the theory that if it stops, steers, accelerates and turns better than stock, then you can fit in.

The car looks good. Keep it up. Got any action video?

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

      I like the theory!
The only video I have at the moment is one of the last dyno sessions. This run was 262whp... Not bad for a sohc motor. Gotta love the divorced wastegate coming out the side!

I'm an "import" guy too :-) Although still a noob here. Welcome along anyway!

Good to see a Honda going round corners, most seem to end up on hmt and a drag strip with some JBweld holding them together :-)

What is your front lip made of? How about the side skirts?

Full belly is on my "one day" list too!

The front lip has always been ghetto... I admit it. Everything else is 5052 aluminum.

Ghetto or not, I want to know what it is! lol, I wasn't taking the piss :-)

To me tracks are a testing ground for the road, it looks like some sort of rubber which would be excellent when flying in and out of steep driveways for example :-) (CF / GRP etc would just get smashed if it was close to the road)

Welcome James! Cool car! That spoiler looks similar to the vinyl baseboard moulding in my store!

I'm sure lots of us have imports we just don't mention them much here. Maybe we should have a "post up a pic of your import" thread to get everyone out of the closet for a day or two. Then we'd get to see what else we're all driving and working on.

I'm not sure I want to rock the boat that much! Like I said, I love anything with wheels. I get my import fix on other boards, and would rather not mess with the balance of things here. lol

While my car isn't an import, it does have a Japanese heart...
